Real Time Modular Spell Weaving System
Make spell weaving an actual art that takes some practice, good, timing, and the correct input. Do it wrong and the spell could be disastrous or maybe a whole new spell you didn't realize. Build your own spells and weave them together. Keep a spell book of results learned or discovered to be displayed to the player as they read the incantation (input code) of known spells or unknown but never before tried spells. Magic casters are supposed to be intelligent so let the player be the intelligence instead of a simple one click and boom spell. Items can augment your capabilities like a gem that allows the caster to draw from deeper reservoirs of mana faster. I haven't seen a system like that yet. Though I have been spreading the idea around to indie games hoping someone can figure out a good system that works and is willing to give it a try.
