Shamanism/spirit world - cromcrom - 06-20-2013 04:03 AM I had this spirit world feature implemented in my NWN2 mod... When one sleeps, there could be a little chance to reach a "spirit" world. That could be a "hidden gameplay feature", and you could gain access to this after some quest, or whatever. The "spirit world" could be as simple as a simple "weird" area, where one or some spirits would spawn when you enter it. Once you would have delt with the spirits, you would go back to the real world (exact same place where you were dreaming, exact same HP, mana, whatever...) Some spirits would have to be talken to, defeated in battle (a simple wisdom contest for example...), and give quite big benefits in case of success. Those benefits should only be accessible on the spirit world. Teaching/owl spirit: gain some global or specific XPs. Bear spirit: gain some temporary strength boost. Wolf spirit: gain some temporary perception boost, Or whatever. Then a Legendary shaman could take on the most powerfull spirits (Bear GrandFather, or whatever), and maybe take them back to the real world. At some level, the player could gain a "Shaman focus", and he could decide whether he would try to gain access to the Spirit world while sleeping. A novice shaman would have no control of his spirit world access, and have a very slight chance to gain access to it, and have a big malus fighting/talking to the spirits. While a Legendary shaman could gain access to the spirit world almost at will, or as soon as he takes a slight nap, and have a big bonus fighting the spirits... Well, you got the pictures ^^ RE: Shamanism/spirit world - Bearhug67 - 08-03-2013 06:25 PM Interesting Just don't use the shortcut to shamanism by suckling on mushrooms or licking frogs or you might face a very untimely retirement RE: Shamanism/spirit world - Mark Rushow - 10-25-2013 03:09 PM Could use dreams to learn hints and points of interest for things going on in the world. Show vague images of things that have come to pass that could have bearing on your present or future. Show things going on now. or show thing that may come to pass or may not. A dream could just a dream after all. |
